Optometric Technician

We are looking for candidates who want the opportunity to move their career into healthcare with the potential to grow into a leadership role.  Our client is looking for a full time optometric technician for their established and fast-growing optometry practice with a collaborative, team-focused culture.  If you are great with people and enjoy performing a number of different tasks throughout the day, we need you!  A successful candidate is a great communicator and has confidence in their ability to learn quickly on the job.  A customer service attitude and a strong team focused work ethic are essential to success in our practice.  Optometric experience is a plus but is not required.  Experience in a fast paced environment that required similar multi-tasking and communication skills a huge plus.

In your role as an optometric technician, you will work up patients in preparation to see the providers.  Tasks include patient documentation throughout the visit, testing using a variety of clinical equipment, coordinating patient flow, and ensuring patient and insurance billing is accurate.  You will work directly with patients, doctors and office staff throughout the day.  A people focused attitude is a must.

This is not a job for someone who wants to do the same thing from day to day – there is a lot of variety and a huge opportunity to move into a leadership role within the team as your responsibilities grow.  The position pays a competitive wage to start and has a plan for increases as you demonstrate capabilities to take on additional responsibilities.  


  • Accurately document examination findings in the electronic medical record
  • Assess patient needs and keep patients flowing through the office, altering the test sequence as required
  • Educate and sell additional services or products that may be beneficial to a patient
  • Schedule patients over the phone and in person
  • Complete patient check-in and check-out processes in the electronic medical record
  • Process product orders accurately with vendors
  • Develop inventory management processes to ensure timely reorder of supplies
  • Ensure accurate insurance and patient billing 


  • 1 year of applicable experience
  • Proven customer service skills required
  • High School Diploma, College Degree Preferred
  • Demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft–based software
