Systems Engineer III

Required Technical Skills

  • System Center Suite
    • Expert knowledge of Configuration Manager: Application Deployment, OSD, Compliance, Software Updates, Reporting and Administration.
    • Mid-to-Expert knowledge of Orchestrator
    • Mid-range knowledge of all of suite applications
    • Certification is preferred
  • Scripting
    • Expert knowledge of PowerShell. The ability to write a basic script on demand is paramount.
    • Mid-range knowledge of VB, C++ or other scripting language
  • High level experience with the following is a MUST:
    • Office 365
    • Active Directory
    • DNS
    • DHCP
    • Group Policy
  • Experience with the following technologies is a plus:
    • Azure 
    • Bomgar 
    • GroupID 
    • external DNS (websites)
    • DMZ

Daily Job Duties

  • Support daily operations of a Windows server environment
  • Assist with troubleshooting Tier 3 issues related to the server environment
  • Build, configure, optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain servers and applications
  • Provide input to system and solution architecture design
  • Perform routine DR testing, maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and operational support tasks
  • Server Security patching
  • Manage server infrastructure changes within the organization
  • Maintain system integrity and security are maintained
  • Collaborate with team members to complete project tasks assigned to the systems engineering team
  • Contribute to and maintain security compliance standards
  • Document relationships and interdependencies between systems and processes
  • Ability to articulate user needs and requirements from high level user stories
  • Ensure critical systems, applications, and services are always up and running

Additional Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring that Production and Lab server areas are kept secure, organized, neat and orderly
  • Management and maintenance of various vendor relationships for all server and related hardware and software
  • Support and maintenance of server monitoring systems with SCOM, Solarwinds
  • Software usage and auditing
  • Server asset management
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications to Meet Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or 3+ years of current Microsoft server certification(s)
  • 1+ years’ experience working in a Systems Engineer or equivalent role
  • 3+ years’ experience supporting Microsoft Server products
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work in a team environment and fulfilling objectives with minimum direct supervision
  • Limited travel – 10% or less
